SK-II’s packaging this year bears a distinctive, floating ink pattern called suminagashi, that is a traditional type of Japanese marbling. This particular art form was especially appealing to the brand, as the concept of suminagashi is that there are no mistakes — every dot of paint or drop of ink creates unique patterns and swirls that give each piece its own kind of distinctive beauty. This year there are three colourways to choose from — blue, green and red decorating each jumbo (230ml) bottle of Facial Treatment Essence. They’ll not be sold individually, so you’ll have to buy them as parts of sets.
