Ebru (Traditional Marbling) Workshop

Here is a workshop for the traditional Turkish or Ottoman marbling style called Ebru. Since this marbling uses heavier latex or oil based paints, this style must use a “size” (water plus a thickening agent added like carageenan). It creates a jelly like consistency to the water so the paint will not sink. By contrast, Suminagashi only needs simple tap water for the inks to float upon.
